3 Important Questions to Ask Hunters Point, NY Air Conditioner Installers

Summers in Queens County can be pretty uncomfortable; in fact, the high heat and humidity can make things downright oppressive. That’s why you’re thinking about installing a new air conditioning system. Whether your current air conditioner has exceeded its life expectancy and you need to replace it, or you want to outfit your newly constructed property with an HVAC system, you want to make sure that you choose the most dependable professional for the job. To do that, getting in touch with at least three air conditioner contractors is highly recommended.

Whether you get referrals to companies from the people you know or you search online for “air conditioner installation near me”, here’s a look at three key questions that you should ask. The answers to these questions will help you decide which Hunters Point, NY air conditioner installer is the right one for the job.

Do you have a license?

Air conditioning installation is a complex job. In order to ensure quality results, a contractor should receive professional training. A license confirms that a Hunters Point, NY air conditioner installer has been professionally trained, that they will use the latest techniques and strategies, the most advanced tools and equipment, and that they will adhere to stringent safety standards. Plus, in Queens County, air conditioner installers must be licensed. Make sure to ask contractors that specialize in air conditioner installation near you if they are licensed. Request proof of their license and check and make sure that it’s in good standing.

Are you fully insured?

Even if you hire the best Hunters Point, NY air conditioner installer, there’s always a chance that something could go wrong. They could inadvertently damage your Queens County property, or the contractor could injure himself while installing your new air conditioning system, for example. In the event that something does go wrong, you definitely don’t want to get stuck with unexpected expenses, so make sure that you find out if the contractors that offer air conditioner installation near you are licensed. Should something happen, their insurance coverage will pay for the related costs. Request proof of their insurance and confirm that the policies are active and in good standing.

What kind of experience do you have?

Sure, there’s a chance that a new contractor that offers air conditioner installation near you could deliver good results; however, when it comes to something as important as a cooling system for your Queens County home, you don’t want to settle for anything less than excellent, and you certainly don’t want to take your chances. To ensure the best results possible, hiring a Hunters Point, NY air conditioner installer that has several years of experience installing HVAC systems of all types, makes, and models is highly recommended. More hands-on experience usually means better results.

Some information about Hunters Point, NY

Long Island City (LIC) is a residential and commercial neighborhood on the extreme western tip of Queens, a borough in New York City. It is bordered by Astoria to the north; the East River to the west; Hazen Street, 49th Street, and New Calvary Cemetery in Sunnyside to the east; and Newtown Creek—which separates Queens from Greenpoint, Brooklyn—to the south.

Long Island City, a city of its own, was created on May 4, 1870, from the merger of the Village of Astoria and the hamlets of Ravenswood, Hunters Point, Blissville, Sunnyside, Dutch Kills, Steinway, Bowery Bay and Middleton in the Town of Newtown. At the time of its incorporation, Long Island City had between 12,000 and 15,000 residents. Its charter provided for an elected mayor and a ten-member Board of Alderman with two representing each of the city’s five wards. City ordinances could be passed by a majority vote of the Board of Aldermen and the mayor’s signature.

Long Island City held its first election on July 5, 1870. Residents elected A.D. Ditmars the first mayor; Ditmars ran as both a Democrat and a Republican. The first elected Board of Aldermen was H. Rudolph and Patrick Lonirgan (Ward 1); Francis McNena and William E. Bragaw (Ward 2); George Hunter and Mr. Williams (Third Ward); James R. Bennett and John Wegart (Ward Four); and E.M. Hartshort and William Carlin (Fifth Ward). The mayor and the aldermen were inaugurated on July 18, 1870.

In the 1880s, Mayor De Bevoise nearly bankrupted the Long Island City government by embezzlement, of which he was convicted. Many dissatisfied residents of Astoria circulated a petition to ask the New York State Legislature to allow it to secede from Long Island City and reincorporate as the Village of Astoria, as it existed prior to the incorporation of Long Island City, in 1884. The petition was ultimately dropped by the citizens.
